Hi daar, even kort voorstellen! Mijn naam is Boris Hi daar, even kort voorstellen! Mijn naam is Boris Schoenmaker. 

Mijn missie met Change Catalyst is om anderen de motivatie te geven om voldoende te bewegen, gezond te eten en productief te zijn. Dit doe ik met methodes en strategieën die makkelijk te adopteren zijn voor de lange termijn. Door je motivatie te unlocken zodat je gewoontes blijft uitvoeren zonder te stoppen. Dit is naar mijn idee namelijk de enige manier om écht duurzaam te veranderen.

Maar waarom is persoonlijke verandering nou zo moeilijk? Het is vaak de motivatie die we missen om door te gaan. Misschien herken jij dit ook wel voor jezelf:

"Het lukt niet om gemotiveerd te blijven of de tijd te vinden."
"Ik val steeds terug in oude gewoontes."
"Ik vind het moeilijk om consistent te blijven met mijn doelen."
"Ik kan de tijd en prioriteit niet vinden om aan mijn gezondheid te werken."

In plaats van voor je te koken, personal training te geven en je als coach iedere dag te pushen is mijn methode veel meer gericht op systemen en gewoontes met je delen (die jij makkelijk kan adopteren!). Hiermee focus ik op de know-how en zelfkennis die van belang is om zelfstandig een duurzame leefstijl op te bouwen. 

Ja, het is zeker niet makkelijk om naast lange uren en overige prioriteiten te focusen op je eigen gezondheid. Maar dit hoeft niet zo te zijn. Met kleine 'micro habits' die bij jou passen kan je consistent bouwen aan een lichaam waar je trots op bent. Zodat je prestaties verbeteren op werk. Zodat je meer focus hebt. Zodat je zelfverzekerder bent en meer energie ervaart door de dag heen.

Change Catalyst heb ik daarom opgezet om IT'ers, bedrijfsmensen en ondernemers te helpen met deze persoonlijke transformatie. Om kennis en vaardigheden te delen die jou helpen om je leefstijl duurzaam te veranderen voor de lange termijn.

Wat is het geheim van superpresteerders? ⚡

Op de een of andere manier lijken ze altijd gemotiveerd. Welk lange termijn doel ze ook hebben, ze lijken altijd maar door te gaan totdat ze het resultaat behalen. Als er één woord zou zijn dat deze mentaliteit van superpresteerders zou beschrijven, zou het GRIT zijn.

GRIT staat voor:
- Give it your all
- Redo if necessary
- Ignore giving up
- Take time to do it right

Wat het leven hen ook brengt, mensen met GRIT zijn vastberaden om door te gaan. Ze zijn zich ervan bewust dat opoffering op korte termijn hen in staat stelt om later iets van grotere waarde te bereiken. Kortom, GRIT is een combinatie van passie en doorzettingsvermogen. Het betekent dat je om kan gaan met belemmeringen, tegenslagen en momenten van twijfel. Want die gaan er komen.

Maar we moeten GRIT van binnenuit kweken. Daarom heb ik zes methoden uiteengezet die je kan gebruiken om door te zetten als je zelf in dit veranderproces zit. Bekijk ze in het artikel (link staat onderaan deze post).

What is the secret of super achievers?

Somehow they seem motivated all the time. Whatever long term goal they have, they always seem to put in the effort - and get the result they want. If it would be one word that would describe this mindset of super achievers the word would be GRIT.

GRIT stands for:
- Give it your all
- Redo if necessary
- Ignore giving up
- Take time to do it right

Whatever life throws at them, people with GRIT are determined to keep grinding on. They are aware that sacrifice in the short term allows them to achieve something of greater value later. In short, GRIT is a combination of passion and perseverance, that allows you to deal with life impediments and setbacks. Because striving for success always means going into untrodden terrority and facing failures and moments of doubt. 

But we have to grow GRIT from the inside out. That's why I've outlind six methods that you can use to follow through when things become tough:

Starting with personal change is difficult. We don Starting with personal change is difficult. We don't get to change who we are in one or just a few days. This can make us feel like we are stuck in the status quo of life, as we are following the same mindset with old habits and routines, while wanting different results.
 
It's like a big line of domino's. We focus on the biggest domino there is (the end goal), and suddenly we lose the motivation to act. That’s when we need to realize that we need to start with just the first domino that is right in front of us. In other words, it's about finding the small actions that we can start with daily, that will give us momentum over the long term. It is about finding the path of least resistance, or the smallest change with the biggest effect, because each domino that we can topple over will give us the energy and momentum to tackle a bigger domino.
 
The big domino is the final goal in the end, but putting your awareness on it can be daunting, as it will only take away energy from the smaller challenge that lies in front of you. So start small, gain momentum and use that first domino as a catalyst to start the process of change. Then you can line up the other bigger domino's and crush them, with a consistent plan, practiced daily.
 
In short:
- Become aware of the first 'obstacle’
- Make smarter choices to tackle this problem
- Experience results and momentum
- Repeat the process

Stoic philosophy is a practical philosophy that fo Stoic philosophy is a practical philosophy that focuses on maintaining a positive attitude. This is especially important when we encounter obstacles on our path. Do we let this affect us, or do we push forward and stay on the right course?
 
One example of a true Stoic was Marcus Aurelius. He was the Great Emperor of Rome and at that time the most powerful man in the world. But still, he was constantly struck with bad luck during his reign. A plague, wars, floods, a crisis and family issues were all giving him stress and anxiety. 

But Marcus overcame all these obstacles and chose not to be harmed by it. Because he saw each obstacle as a necessary part of the path. This mindset allowed him to transform bad feelings into resilience and determination. Here are 3 ways for you to also train this Stoic Mindset:
 
- Purposeful Reflection
Reflection can help with staying positive because it gives insight how your thoughts are driving your behaviour. Reflection can therefore serve as your guiding light to accurately pinpoint the precise cause of your feelings.
 
- Gratitude Writing
Gratitude is cure for negative thinking. Instead of focusing on the gap, you focus on the gain. Instead of expanding on what is wrong, you amplify what is right. With gratitude you can give things a new meaning and change how you feel about a certain situation.
 
- Sentence Stems
The goal of the sentence stem exercise is to start with an incomplete sentence, and to keep adding different endings. The use of this exercise is to provoke new thoughts in order to challenge your beliefs. Try a sentence stem each morning to influence your attitude during the day, so you can respond differently when something happens:
 
If I ..
Lived 5 percent more assertively today I would..
Create 5% more energy / positivity today I would..
 
In short, sentence stems can help you create new thought patterns in your mind.
 
Use these exercises to become resilient in your own life when things don't go your way. Apply this wisdom actively, because Stoicism is not just a way of thinking, it must be a way of living.

Because let’s face it, we all have conflicting and contradicting thoughts and activities in our lives.

Rather than leaning on short intense bursts of red motivation, blue focuses more on duration and the process. With this colour, we can build discipline in our day to day lifestyle.

Instead of feeling impatient, resistant or fierce, we can use red motivation to become more forceful, determined and committed to our new goal. Rather than feeling blocked, we can utilize red to push forward and advance.
 
So, if you feel that you want to break out of the status quo of life, focus on:

- A positive risk so you have some real skin in the game.
